Pharmacology Department Activities

A. Pharmacology Department Seminar Series are held every other Tuesday at 4pm. Researchers from various schools are invited to give research talks to the department faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students. Two slots per year, one slot in September and one in June, are reserved for postdoctoral fellow research talks. Each research talk is 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of questions. Every year, four fellows are given the opportunity to present their research in a formal setting. Currently, Dr. Ronald Perez (Gudas lab) is in charge of organizing the speakers. If you would like to volunteer for either September or June dates please email Ron at rop2013@med.cornell.edu.

On September 13, 2011, Dr. Yannick Benoit (Gudas lab) presented a research seminar titled: "Pharmacological Inhibition of Polycomb Repressive Complex 2 Activity in Colorectal Cancer Cells". Dr. Dusica Curanovic (Jaffrey lab) also presented a seminar titled: "Global Profiling of Stimulus-Induced Polyadenylation". An appreciative audience listened to the seminars. C. Pharmacology Program Retreat - joint with Sloan Kettering. An annual, 2-day retreat held outside of New York City is held each spring. Postdoctoral Fellows are invited to attend and present research posters. See pictures from past retreats.

D. Faculty-postdoctoral fellow "caffeine hour" is meant to encourage research discussion and get to know one another. Come join us for some coffee, tea, mate, bagel and other pastries. These events are hosted every third Wednesday of the month, beginning September 2010, from 3-4pm in the Pharmacology conference room (E-415).
